Loktak Lake

Located at a distance of 40 kilometres from Manipur's capital Imphal, Loktak Lake, with a catchment of 1,040 square kilometres, is the only ‘floating lake’ in the world, containing Phumdis which are actually islets consisting of a heterogeneous mass of vegetation, soil, and organic matters at various stages of decomposition – on its surface.Loktak Lake is the largest fresh water lake in Northeast India.

During the recent trip to Manipur, we had wonderful time boating around the lake. Here are few snapshots from the lake.
